Radio2 Server Setup

Radio2 is an application that runs in the OPML Editor environment.
You can install it on Amazon EC2 following the instructions in the EC2 for Poets tutorial, or install it on your own on a server machine, or on a machine on your local network, if you know what you're doing.
If you need to install the OPML Editor, do that first.
Then choose Tool Catalog from the Misc menu, and click on the Install link next to Radio2.
Once you've done that, this howto should open.
Congratulations! You've just installed Radio2, which allows you to host linkblogs for a community of users. Just a few steps to set up and you will be blogging your Hello World post.
1. A domain name for your Radio2 server. Something like radio2.mydomain.com. This is the domain people will use to access their Radio2 linkblogs.
2. An Amazon S3 account and be prepared to enter your S3 Access Key Id and Secret Key
3. An S3 bucket to store your Radio2 feeds in. You should write down the path to that bucket and the URL you use to access it in a web browser.
4. A password for your Admin account, so you can access your server over the net.
We've really tried to hone these instructions to make it as easy as possible, but you are setting up a server, so you have to do it carefully.
On your server machine, enter this URL into your web browser, or click on the link below:
There are a number of pages there that ask for the information listed above. We also check to see that the values you enter work.
You now have a single account on your server, admin. You can access it through the domain name you entered in the previous section.
The Docs for Radio2 are linked into the top of the page of the website so they're always easy to find.
The menu in the upper right corner of the screen, when you're logged on as Admin, gets you back to the OPML Editor website, where you can change various settings that control all apps running on the server. You can create additional accounts with the New User command. You can give them admin-like powers with the Prefs command. This is useful if there are other people who you want to be able to manage the system or if you want to use a name other than "admin" to blog with. :-)
We have several mail lists for support of server operators. Probably the best one to ask questions on is the EC2-for-Poets list. If you're not running on EC2 be sure to say where you are running your server.
